Rhyniella praecursor

Reading through Evolution of the Insects, I came across a familiar face - Rhyniella praecursor, a famous fossil specimen of a primitive springtail (Collembola) from the Devonian period. I remembered learning about this specimen and its importance in one of my entomology classes... I felt inspired to draw it.

So here you go, now you too can show off your love for paleoentomology!

Hello, I am an undergrad attending a college in Washington state, I happened to stumble upon your drawing of Rhyniella praecursor this evening while preparing an introductory entomology lecture which I will be giving tomorrow to an agriculture class. This is not weird, I know, but when I saw the picture you posted I had to do a double-take. As I write this, the exact same page is open on my table, and has been before I found your image. I'm quite struck by this coincidence, and I felt you might appreciate the story if I shared it.
Also, I happened to meet Dr. Grimaldi recently, and I believe he would enjoy your enthusiasm for the subject.
